A good day hiking

The other afternoon , I headed out with a fully charged camera and my dogs for a hike on my usual path ... the weather had been co-operating and I was hoping for a good day shooting , and some exercise.  I got some amazing shots , and got a TON of exercise when I got back to my truck to leave...  It had sunk into the heavy wet snow ,  2 hours of digging later I had to call a friend to give me a quick tow , as night had set in and I couldn't see anything .  lol Its all good , the pictures were worth it.

My boy Ramsey, he just loves to jump thru the snow banks,  its almost always away from me though.

My other dog Monkey tried the same thing and didn't make it up !! lol

Ramsey, posing for me .

The sun co-operated , giving me an amazing sunset.

I had to walk thru thigh deep snow drifts to get here lol

Amazing colours !

and crazy clouds.

All that aperture/shutter practice is starting to pay off!!

Its time to go home...
Well not really ,  it was almost another 3 hours after this one before I walked in the door , exhausted .   Shoveling heavy wet snow is insane.   At one point I managed to get myself moving ( I do own a 4x4 with knobby tires ) I went backward about 8 feet and thought i hit a tree.... but it was just the snow packing up behind me into a solid mass.  It was then I called my friend.
Have a great day , I hope you have enjoyed these pictures.

Thirty Below , and lots of snow :)

It snowed almost all day yesterday, was quite a nice day .. not too far below zero , lots of fluffy snow.  Then came the night ,  and the cold !  Woke up to -33C with wind chill today . COLD!  Of course, Id left my truck window open !! Hahahaha it was frozen and had a good amount of snow in it, and even worse I forgot to plug it in.  So my whole day was delayed by an hour while I waited for the block heater to do  its job.  Had another coffee , and even managed a food post while waiting. You can check it out here :) http://richfletchersgoodfoodrevolution.blogspot.com/ So finally , I get to leave , and that's were the photos start..  with a quick view of my truck, then off for a frozen hike...  so cold i could only manage two or three shots at a time, before my fingers wouldn't work properly. The snow banks looked great today , frozen, but with blue skies and sunshine. Then , just to show how used to the cold  me and my dogs have become, the last one was taken at a stop sign..  I didn't even have to roll down the window, it was already down.  6 Layers can keep you pretty warm.  Enjoy :)) I know I did.

Winter has definately arrived :)

Brrrr the last two days have been -10C plus some crazy windchills, so it feels like -20 to -25C .   The dogs however still need to be walked.   As a small bonus for me, Ive found that these freezing days can make for some good shots, providing the camera doesn't freeze lol.   Today was one of those good days.  For the first time ever,  I saw two hawks together in a tree and luckily the battery held out long enought to get a few shots off.
