A good day hiking

The other afternoon , I headed out with a fully charged camera and my dogs for a hike on my usual path ... the weather had been co-operating and I was hoping for a good day shooting , and some exercise.  I got some amazing shots , and got a TON of exercise when I got back to my truck to leave...  It had sunk into the heavy wet snow ,  2 hours of digging later I had to call a friend to give me a quick tow , as night had set in and I couldn't see anything .  lol Its all good , the pictures were worth it.

My boy Ramsey, he just loves to jump thru the snow banks,  its almost always away from me though.

My other dog Monkey tried the same thing and didn't make it up !! lol

Ramsey, posing for me .

The sun co-operated , giving me an amazing sunset.

I had to walk thru thigh deep snow drifts to get here lol

Amazing colours !

and crazy clouds.

All that aperture/shutter practice is starting to pay off!!

Its time to go home...
Well not really ,  it was almost another 3 hours after this one before I walked in the door , exhausted .   Shoveling heavy wet snow is insane.   At one point I managed to get myself moving ( I do own a 4x4 with knobby tires ) I went backward about 8 feet and thought i hit a tree.... but it was just the snow packing up behind me into a solid mass.  It was then I called my friend.
Have a great day , I hope you have enjoyed these pictures.

Where did January go ??

Its mid winter here , lots of snow, cold temperatures, and grey/white skies. Its been an interesting week of taking photographs, I've started shooting in RAW , and using the semi manual settings on my camera.  Aperture and shutter speed was my focus this week.   Ill keep this brief, as for the first time. Im adding captions :)) Ill let them tell the rest of this weeks story .

Winter horizon , On a clear day the CN tower is very pronounced, today its just a fuzzy stick in the far background.

Im guessing this bird had flown south :)

Fence posts and dark cold water are two of my favourite subjects

Dark water on a cold grey day , this shot was an Ah Ha moment for shutter speed.

Snowy Calm, A view of the woods, it looks so  peaceful.

You know the snow is deep when :))

Post in a snowy field.  This was my Ah Ha moment for aperture.  Fence posts make great practice shots.

Little Miss Chicken , Id been taking care of a Farmer Friend's  chickens while he was away!

Roast pork Dinner, my other life as a food blogger :)
