A good day hiking

The other afternoon , I headed out with a fully charged camera and my dogs for a hike on my usual path ... the weather had been co-operating and I was hoping for a good day shooting , and some exercise.  I got some amazing shots , and got a TON of exercise when I got back to my truck to leave...  It had sunk into the heavy wet snow ,  2 hours of digging later I had to call a friend to give me a quick tow , as night had set in and I couldn't see anything .  lol Its all good , the pictures were worth it.

My boy Ramsey, he just loves to jump thru the snow banks,  its almost always away from me though.

My other dog Monkey tried the same thing and didn't make it up !! lol

Ramsey, posing for me .

The sun co-operated , giving me an amazing sunset.

I had to walk thru thigh deep snow drifts to get here lol

Amazing colours !

and crazy clouds.

All that aperture/shutter practice is starting to pay off!!

Its time to go home...
Well not really ,  it was almost another 3 hours after this one before I walked in the door , exhausted .   Shoveling heavy wet snow is insane.   At one point I managed to get myself moving ( I do own a 4x4 with knobby tires ) I went backward about 8 feet and thought i hit a tree.... but it was just the snow packing up behind me into a solid mass.  It was then I called my friend.
Have a great day , I hope you have enjoyed these pictures.

  1. It's me again, Rich. :D These are wonderful. Ramsey - what a handsome Brindle - very good looking dog. Poor Monkey - perhaps he didn't make it over the fence because his name is "Monkey"? LOL!!! You need to teach you dogs to help dig when you get stuck. Perhaps you could also hook them up to the truck to help pull. Instead, I bet they just played in the snow, sat in the truck to keep warm and enjoyed watching you work your butt off. LOL!!!

  2. Thanks Lindy :)) I was thinking a harness would have worked, i only needed a little tug at one point lol. They did enjoy it alot more than i did.
LOL Monkey got his name for his ability to leap from the washing machine to the closet and eat everything , that and break his way out of a dog cage.

  3. We need a good pic. of Monkey. Thinking of how he got his name . . . we could have named our Molly Monkey instead. She doesn't just get down off her comfy chair. She goes from the chair to the arm of the couch to the couch cushions and then down. ???????????? ;D Did you ever video Monkey going through his antics? Jumping from WM to closet must have been quite a fete - painful if he landed wrong.

  5. Oh dear, poor Rich; poor Monkey. Our Molly had serious anxiety issues when we got her. She destroyed a cushion on the couch (old, used couch:) and totally shredded a feather pillow (6" of feathers in the LR - took me 2 hours to clean up the mess). Then there was her anxiety about riding in a car. She threw up every time we took her anywhere - this took about a year to get over. She had to learn that we were not going to dump her somewhere in the desert and abandon her like had already happened to her; she had to learn that we would always bring her back home. She has been with us for 2 1/2 years now and all is fine. WHEW! She has turned into a wonderful dog and quite protective. She knows we love her and that she has a forever home.

  6. LOL Im glad she has come around , Monkey is 6 and still can be a handful some days. But he is a good loyal loveable dog :)) Who is keeping my feet warm right now !! LOL He used to jump out of my truck at the traffic lights :( Scared the BLEEP out be a few times. Hahahaha was just thinking about the pillow, he did that too , but also got into a case of motor oil at the same time.. came home to a tar and feathered puppy and laundry room... that was the last day i ever locked him up, took me a week to clean up the mess. Im sure there is probally still and oil stain under the washing machine.
