A good day hiking

The other afternoon , I headed out with a fully charged camera and my dogs for a hike on my usual path ... the weather had been co-operating and I was hoping for a good day shooting , and some exercise.  I got some amazing shots , and got a TON of exercise when I got back to my truck to leave...  It had sunk into the heavy wet snow ,  2 hours of digging later I had to call a friend to give me a quick tow , as night had set in and I couldn't see anything .  lol Its all good , the pictures were worth it.

My boy Ramsey, he just loves to jump thru the snow banks,  its almost always away from me though.

My other dog Monkey tried the same thing and didn't make it up !! lol

Ramsey, posing for me .

The sun co-operated , giving me an amazing sunset.

I had to walk thru thigh deep snow drifts to get here lol

Amazing colours !

and crazy clouds.

All that aperture/shutter practice is starting to pay off!!

Its time to go home...
Well not really ,  it was almost another 3 hours after this one before I walked in the door , exhausted .   Shoveling heavy wet snow is insane.   At one point I managed to get myself moving ( I do own a 4x4 with knobby tires ) I went backward about 8 feet and thought i hit a tree.... but it was just the snow packing up behind me into a solid mass.  It was then I called my friend.
Have a great day , I hope you have enjoyed these pictures.

English Gates

I have a fascination with gates, doors, posts, fences and walls .. just in case you haven't noticed yet . They often find themselves to be the the focus of my shot.   I'm not sure what I like most about them,   but while in England last year I was treated to some great subjects.

All the farmers fields have access to them via these gates, So nice to be able to walk around without giant NO trespassing signs everywhere.   Field Gate 1

Field Gate 2

This style of getting over the fence, brings back a lot of childhood memories. Field Gate 3

Not as pretty as the others, but functionable.  Field Gate 4

Wooden Version , of the swinging gate design .  Field gate 5

No gate at all really ,  just an access path .

Your even allowed to walk through the cow fields :)) Field gate 6

This one just had a certain rustic charm about it .

One of the college buildings in Oxford.

Next set will be of the hike I took yesterday , was a great hike/photo shoot that ended in me spending 2 hours digging my truck out of the heavy snow :))

A little Green for a change :)

I started this blog in winter, and have been posting an awful lot of snowy day picks :) I Figured it was time for a change ... Some photos I took while back home on  holiday last year came to mind.  It had been a while since Id been back in early summer , and the greens were amazing :)  Mostly shot in the Oxfordshire area of southern England. Enjoy :)

Dry stone wall, just outside Charlbury

The new wall meets the old.

So what did you think ? It made me happy to see soon green !! We have another 6 weeks at least of cold weather to go , with most of that below freezing.
Posting these has given me an idea for my next one,  I have quite a few more gates and posts from the English countryside...  will be coming soon :)
